New World Mall

Description

Here's a food court where your senses will be slammed by cilantro instead of Cinnabon. New World Mall, which opened in the heart of downtown Flushing in 2011, is New York's largest indoor Asian mall, a three-story glass structure dominated by a massive Asian supermarket and dozens of food vendors on the lower level. Being conversant in Cantonese helps, but it really doesn't matter, as most of the young workers and patrons speak English and menus are translated. There's a changing cast of characters in the stalls, but you'll generally have a choice of low-price Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean and Malaysian eats. It's family- and date-friendly fast food with fewer of the nutritional pitfalls of other American malls. Other draws at the mall include a karaoke lounge, banquet halls and underground valet parking.
