Wandering down Arthur Avenue and want a little something sweet? Morrone will sell you one crunchy hazelnut or double-chocolate biscotti, a mini cannoli or bite-size tiramisu. Take a seat, enjoy it, move on. Or let's say you're throwing a party. Fresh baked cookies and pastries are sold by the dozen, specialty layer cakes decorated however you want. The staff behind the counter is courteous and accommodating, explaining the difference between a French Napoleon (layered with Bavarian cream) and an Italian Napoleon (sponge cake layers soaked in rum with vanilla and chocolate custard). It's not fancy, but unless you're avoiding sugar, what's not to like?
