It all began with a ballet flat. When this shoe purveyor launched in 2013, founder Filipa Júlio (a former ballerina) kept things simple, producing exquisite versions of the indispensable flat made by expert Portuguese artisans. The brand has since expanded, and there are more styles available in this Nolita shop, but you’ll find no torturous stilettos or toe-pinching mules here. The company’s underlying feminist ethos (it partnered with Gloria Steinem on a recent design) yields luxury shoes that mix comfort and fashion. Architect Christian Lahoude—the man behind Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Tiffany’s flagship stores—also designed this space, which is colored in a soothing palette of soft creams and rose gold hues.
