The curatorial eye of a boutique meets the reliability of a chain at Intermix. There are five Manhattan locations sitting within a larger constellation of stores in 10 states. While every Intermix offers usual-suspect women's wear labels alongside the wares of smaller and upstart fashion houses from Europe and the United States, the open atelier quality of the Madison Avenue store, in particular, counters the closely domestic feel of many other upscale retailers in the neighborhood.
