Description
A trip to Wechsler’s is like a visit to a schnell-imbisse (fast-food stall) in Berlin. Spicy or mild currywurst are saturated in fruity, curry-hinted tomato sauce and speared with doll-size plastic forks, while slim bratwurst are dipped in imported hot mustard and wrestled into crusty baguettes via paper baskets, which double as utensils. There's an admirable selection of German beers here, along with a German playlist that includes Johnny Cash singing "I Walk the Line" (in German!). It's a tight little nook, quiet and casual during the day and more raucous at night.
