Trying to distinguish oneself from the crowd of Thai restaurants on Ninth Avenue in Midtown/Chelsea can’t be easy (it seems there are a few on every block). But this hotspot certainly gets an A for effort, thanks to its contemporary decor and innovative, self-dubbed “alternative” dishes like “Drunkman Fettuccini” and a happy seafood medley that features spinach pasta. If you’d rather not branch out, not to worry: Thai Select has the old standbys, too. The place also boasts inexpensive lunch specials and potent cocktails.
