Tekoá

Out of Business

Description

One of the best things about Tekoá is the journey, a stroll through beautiful, old-world Cobble Hill, a neighborhood lined with stately brownstones. Tekoá, an unfussy cafe, is located next to the Cobble Hill Park. The team behind it, Alex Raij and her husband and co-chef, Eder Montero, are also responsible for the Basque-themed El Quinto Pino and Txikito in Chelsea and La Vara, two doors down from Tekoá. In the morning, enjoy fresh-baked pastries and egg dishes; for lunch, fill up on homey soups, a double-patty burger with smoky idiazabal cheese and a slim ficelle layered with sweet vanilla butter and salty Spanish ham. Irving Farm coffee is good any time, particularly with a chewy, gluten-free peanut butter cookie, the recipe cadged from the spot’s previous tenant, Ted & Honey. By summer the couple plans to expand to dinner hours.
