Stellina

Out of Business

Description

Sorella, an Italian restaurant opened by young first-timers Emma Hearst (yes, she is a descendant of William Randolph Hearst) and Sarah Krathen, was a breakout hit when it opened in 2009—so much so that when the space next door became available, they opened an adorable little bakery and gelateria, christening it Stellina ("little star" in Italian). There's a marble counter with a few wooden stools where you can relax over soup, Counter Culture coffee and thoughtfully prepared sandwiches, such as squash and kale with whipped goat cheese, almonds and balsamic layered in sea-salt focaccia. All breads, muffins, cakes, cookies and breadsticks are made in-house. The desserts are so beautifully constructed and temptingly displayed, it's pretty much impossible to leave here without indulging.
