Sripraphai

Description

The name might look unpronounceable but think “Superfly” and you’re close. This under-the-radar place has a cult following, partly because it’s so cheap (most dishes are under $10), and also because bloggers argue that it’s the most bona fide Thai food in New York City. Manhattanites are even willing to travel to Queens for it. You don’t come for the ambience, though the recently expanded space has gotten a bit flashier. The food is still rooted in authenticity, favorites being chicken pad Thai, papaya salad with crispy catfish, and fried pork and crabmeat rolls. Portions are ample, and no matter how much you order, it’s rare to spend over $20 per person here.
