Description

Sensing a lack of Nordic-inspired food in New York City, two men who hail from Denmark opened Smør in 2019. Their small, casual eatery boasts locations in the East Village and Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill; the latter is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Start your day with a breakfast pastry, eggs served your way, Danish pancakes or smoked salmon served with dill-scallion cream cheese on an open-face sourdough roll. Lunch includes sandwiches, platters (like a smoked salmon or whitefish platter) and smørrebrød—smoked salmon, chicken salad or pickled herring served on house rye bread with fixings. For dinner: more Nordic dishes like trout toast, Toast Skagen (Norweigan Fjord shrimp salad and roe on sourdough) and sesame schnitzel.
