Potlikker

Out of Business

Description

Williamsburg, already rich with quirky and wonderful dining destinations, has a real gem in Potlikker. Owner/chef Liza Queen, who had a cult following at Queen's Hideaway in Greenpoint, has brought her locavore sensibility to this beachy storefront, done in shades of white, avocado and celery. It's not overtly feminine, but there is a womanly touch to an imaginative salad composition of sweet summer cherries, sugar snap peas, radish and black sesame seeds in lemon-ginger dressing. Not that you can count on finding this salad on any given day—Queen goes with what's available seasonally, and items are constantly changing. She may always have a version of her famous Dutch pancake, at brunch served with fried potatoes, Benton's bacon and creamy caciotta di capra cheese. At night, you may see diver scallops in lobster broth or St. Louis–style pork ribs finished with rhubarb gastrique and paired with cornbread upside-down cake.
