Picture-taking opportunities abound at this sunny, 60-seat outdoor café on Roosevelt Island, located smack on the East River waterfront facing Manhattan. It's no sweat getting here by subway or tramway, and it really takes you away from the hustle and bustle mind-set of the City. Open seasonally, it's a fun place for a date or for a family or group outing. Barbecue sandwiches (pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey) come courtesy of Josh Bowen, pitmaster at John Brown Smokehouse in Long Island City. There is also a raw bar, an overstuffed rock shrimp roll and a crispy crab cake on a toasted potato roll. Or you can just sit for drinks and enjoy the sunset.
