Description

Sam Mason's trajectory includes gaining a cult following when he was pastry chef at wd~50, opening the boutique Empire Mayonnaise in Brooklyn and following that up with this modern soda fountain in Williamsburg. OddFellows, named for a bygone, benevolent fraternal organization, has some odd flavors indeed—chorizo caramel swirl, manchego pineapple, sesame kumquat pumpernickel—but there are also luxurious renditions of chocolate and vanilla in housemade waffle cones. The traceability of ingredients is a priority here, including dairy and eggs sourced from local family farms. Since Mason has proven himself to be indefatigably creative, there will always be something new and different to sample, including shakes and splits and seasonal-fruit sorbets.
