In a quiet part of Greenpoint, Franklin Guesthouse is a 30-suite hotel with a restaurant off the lobby that outshines expectations. Madre has a somewhat tropical look with supersize greenery but the menu is contemporary American. While they’re still hot, pop crunchy-creamy croquetas with gruyère and black truffle in your mouth. Wild striped bass with harissa minestrone and chestnut agnolotti with fontina and sage are also dynamite. Go at happy hour for dollar oysters and discounted wine and beer.
