Jeepney

Out of Business

Description

Named for the overhauled World War II–era jeeps that cruise the Philippines' streets as taxis, Jeepney is a colorful gathering place for Filipino expats and fans of the robust Southeast Asian cuisine. A yellow Formica counter serves as the bar, which features creative takes on wine and beer cocktails. Cheeky images of Filipino women are laminated on tabletops and hung on the galvanized-steel walls. The menu is similar to its sister restaurant, Maharlika, dishing out big portions of pork shoulder, chicken, noodles and fish. Brunch offers unusual choices, such as Filipino bangers and mash: meatloaf topped with duck eggs and paired with roasted carrots and peas.
