DuMont is a saloon with style, colonized by a raffish Williamsburg crowd that's been stumbling in since 2001. Look for far-above-average bar food: crispy baby artichokes with lemon, Parmesan, arugula and creamy garlic; peekytoe crab cake with avocado dressing; and brick-roasted half-chicken with house-made gnocchi, hen-of-the-woods mushrooms and red wine reduction. Have you heard about the DuMac and cheese and the jumbo burger? Believe every word: they are sensational. The burger, in fact, has such a following that it triggered a spin-off restaurant, DuMont Burger. The hidden back patio is lovely at brunch—just the place to have a big Bloody Mary and eggs Benedict.
