Description

The quarters are tight at Dimes, an 18-seat bohemian café with small tables and a few stools along a white counter facing the wall. During breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's packed with health-oriented young people seeking out quinoa porridge, breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs and spicy mango salsa, big salads and sandwiches ranging from spicy beet and roasted eggplant to a BLT. Vegetables are the focus (although Dimes is not strictly vegetarian): feel-good dinner items include a big bowl of farro topped with roasted delicata squash, baby brussels sprouts, mustard greens, apples cut like matchsticks and a ginger-garlic-pumpkin seed paste to coat it all. There are also “superfood” acai bowls, a large selection of loose leaf tea, juice tonics, plus sake cocktails, wine and beer. Young co-owners Sabrina De Sousa and Alissa Wagner are restaurant industry vets who have their fingers on the pulse of the millennial diet.
