Dao Palate is relaxed and tranquil, a retreat from a busy crossroads in Brooklyn near Grand Army Plaza. Flowers decorate the dark wood tables and Asian artifacts augment the earth-toned walls. The flavorful, Pan-Asian vegan menu ranges from Vietnamese-style summer rolls to Japanese shumai with spinach to Indian-accented curry samosas with mint chutney. Ingredients are mostly locally sourced. Lunch specials are a bargain, and it's reasonably priced at night, too, when sunlight is replaced by candlelight.
