Coogan’s Restaurant

Every day is St. Patrick’s Day at this rollicking Washington Heights restaurant and karaoke bar, where it’s not uncommon to start your evening with dinner, and end it with a boozy rendition of “I Will Always Love You” (most likely with your new best friends, whom you met a few hours prior). With crowds as eclectic as its karaoke selections, Coog’s is the after-work and late-night home base for staff from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and construction workers, along with local Dominicans and just-moved-to-New Yorkers. Think of it as your local Cheers—everybody knows your name, even if they won’t remember it in the morning.
