Carnegie Deli & Restaurant

Out of Business

Description

Dubbed the “most famous deli in the United States” by USA Today, this Midtown hangout opened in 1939 and has been slinging pastrami, corned beef, potato pancakes, smoked salmon, chopped chicken liver and matzo ball soup ever since. Prices are high and portions are enormous (there’s a $3 additional plate charge for sharing), but if you’re lucky, you might spot a celebrity like Adam Sandler, who gave the deli a shout-out in his famous “Chanukah Song.”
