An array of dishes on a marble table, including plates of salad, plantains with avocado and kale, spring rolls, and a bowl of soup. A menu is visible at the bottom.
Corner view of Cafe Rue Dix, a restaurant with red awnings over large windows, outdoor seating, and a sidewalk sign on a sunny day. The café is located at the intersection of Park Pl and a one-way street.
A cozy restaurant interior with wooden tables and chairs, red barstools, exposed brick walls, African masks, and large windows letting in natural light from the street outside.

Description

Crown Heights’s Café Rue Dix was opened by husband and wife Lamine Diagne and Nilea Alexander, who saw a need for Senegalese cuisine in NYC. Their goal became to open a warm, casual Parisian-style bistro that serves traditional Senegalese food alongside French fare. Inside, a simple design with wooden bistro chairs that line tables pushed closely together is married with West African touches like the light fixtures made from gourd drums and masks lining the walls. Traditional Senegalese foods like Thiebou Jen (stewed red snapper, vegetables and rice), Thiebou Yapp (braised lamb shank over seasoned rice) and Mafé (spicy stewed beef in peanut butter sauce) share the menu with French favorites like steak frites and croquettes de duck confit. There’s also a five-course tasting menu and a family-style option for larger parties. The café is part of the lifestyle brand that also includes the trendy concept store Marche Rue Dix.
