Broken Spoke Rotisserie

Out of Business

Description

Rotisserie chicken far superior to the type sold in supermarkets is the focus at Broken Spoke Rotisserie, a friendly Kips Bay bistro named for the chef's love of cycling. Half or whole Amish chickens are well seasoned and served with pickled vegetables, fresh tortillas and chimichurri sauce laced with enough garlic to ward off colds. Heritage breed pork, empanadas filled with pasture-raised beef and the "beast of the week" (which might mean short ribs for two, for instance) are other meaty specialties. Chef Ed Carew, who has worked at Craftbar and Gramercy Tavern, skews toward robust Latin American flavors, and the wine list is designed to match them, with vintages from California, New York State and Europe.
