BlackTail

Out of Business

Description

BlackTail, on the second level of Battery Park’s beautifully restored Pier A Harbor House, is a vintage Havana-style lounge and instant classic. Dark and plush, the sprawling space sports stained glass overhead and, behind the bar, a mural of Christopher Columbus landing in the West Indies. Fedora-wearing barkeeps welcome patrons with free frozen mini daiquiris and expertly mix up cocktails. American-themed food includes short rib sloppy joes and chicken lollipops. Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry’s first New York City bar, the Dead Rabbit, has a reputation as one of the best anywhere; BlackTail, their latest, could knock it off its perch.
