Unless you live in Fresh Meadows, you pretty much have to have a car to experience the top-notch bagels here. The shop is right off the Long Island Expressway, but since there's no parking, just pull up to the curb and dash inside. This commuter favorite has been around since 1961 and never closes. Bagel Oasis' party faithful include police, state workers and bar crawlers stumbling out at closing time in need of something solid to sop up the booze. Cream cheese spreads with vegetable, scallion, bacon or walnut-raisin are all homemade. Tasty sandwiches and bialys are also on hand.
