Description
This low-lit, bilevel lounge and restaurant has a fireplace and enclosed patio upstairs, making it a romantic dinner spot. Locals tend to stick to the downstairs bar and comfy sofas in the lounge where the seductive music has the groove of a James Bond movie soundtrack. Chef John Keller's New American menu starts off with whipped butter flecked with sage, sun-dried tomato and sea salt flakes melting into toasted whole-grain bread. His grandmother Mimi's crab cakes are another lovely opener, perked up with bits of sweet pepper, Scotch bonnet pepper and a soothing base of coconut cream. Tasty dishes to share include miso-marinated black cod fish sticks and pig's trotter croquettes accompanied by barbecue sauce flavored with ancho chiles and Brooklyn Brewery chocolate stout. Even Keller's burgers, topped with applewood-smoked bacon, manchego cheese and harissa aioli, have a twist.
