Take note—there are a few Ali's roti joints in Brooklyn, but they are not all the same. After more than 30 years in the neighborhood, Ali’s Trinidad Roti Shop has become a go-to Bed-Stuy institution for chicken, shrimp and goat rotis, and the restaurant’s "doubles"—curried chickpeas wrapped in a pan-fried flatbread. A 2011 Village Voice award for best Trinidadian food in NYC has spread the word beyond local precincts and likely has helped add to the wait times. Be sure to request extra spice if you prefer a bit more heat.
