Aamanns-Copenhagen

Out of Business

Description

Any time of year looks like winter at TriBeCa's Aamanns-Copenhagen—a white-as-snow space accentuated with pine and hardwood. The sun floods in during the day, illuminating a cultured, international clientele and functional design touches like classic Arne Jacobsen chairs, Bodum twin salt and pepper grinders and water bottles holding Japanese charcoal sticks to filter impurities. Chef Adam Aamann's Danish food has a light, healthy touch. Enjoy herring pickled with curry and ginger, salads abundantly fortified with herbs, and tart red berry porridge with meringue. Particularly delicious are pan-fried, finely ground fish cakes served with shaves of pickled cucumber, carrot-flecked, sweet-sour remoulade and deeply flavored, malty, sourdough rye bread that's baked in-house. To drink are aquavit-infused cocktails, Danish microbrews and lovely Eurocentric wines.
