A-Wah

Out of Business

Description

Hong Kong–style food served on a mysterious, Blade Runner–type side street will win you points as an insider with anyone you lead here. Even seasoned New Yorkers get flummoxed trying to find this little shoe box. A-Wah opened in 2010 and quickly gained fame through glowing reviews in The New York Times and The Village Voice. It's not much to look at—an open kitchen up front framed by hanging fowl; a plain dining room in back—but it's clean and homey. Get the Peking duck sandwich, suckling pig, "world famous" rice in casserole and kung pao chicken.
