The Pond in Central Park

Description

Remember when Holden Caulfield mused “Where do the ducks go in the winter?” in J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye? He said it while standing at The Pond, one of Central Park’s seven bodies of water. The Pond was freshly landscaped in 2001, and now includes an island habitat for birds and turtles and seasonal flower displays. As it turns out, most of the ducks just stay elsewhere in the park for the winter months.
