Steeplechase Park (Coney Island)
Description
Built over the grounds of the old Steeplechase Park—one of Coney Island’s most popular attractions in the first half of the 20th century—this 2.2-acre open pedestrian plaza serves as an entrance point into the more-recent Coney Island constructions. The park features the landmarked Parachute Jump, as well as the restored B&B Carousell, one of the park’s oldest remaining carousels. Next door is Maimonides Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball team.
