East Village

St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery

Description

The East Village performance spot is home to Danspace Project, the Poetry Project and Richard Foreman's legendary Ontological-Hysteric Theater (not to mention the local Episcopal parish). Recent productions include David Dorman Dance's Disavowal, an 80th birthday reading for Kenward Elmslie and Foreman's Astronome: A Night at the Opera. After the show, make sure to step outside to admire the gorgeous church building, which was founded in 1799 and restored in 1984.
