Rucker Park

Description

Located near the former site of the Polo Grounds, where the New York Giants baseball team once played, the Holcombe Rucker Playground has become an equally hallowed sports venue. Made famous by basketball tournaments originally organized by its namesake playground director and teacher, the court has hosted such hoops heroes as Wilt Chamberlain, Julius "Dr. J" Erving and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It's one of the best places to see rising stars play electrifying, high-flying streetball.
