Description

Named after the beloved playwright, this Midtown theater formerly known as the Alvin opened in 1927 and has since showcased three of Simon's most famous plays: Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues and Jake's Women. One of the Nederlander Organization's nine Broadway houses, the Neil Simon Theatre hosted the long-running hit Annie, and has featured on its stage such megastars as James Earl Jones, Ethel Merman and Henry Fonda. In 1960, Lucille Ball made her Broadway debut at the 1445-seat venue, in the acclaimed production of Wildcat.
