Mama Foundation for the Arts

Description

As the destination for gospel, The Mama Foundation for the Arts offers the full "Harlem Gospel Experience" through weekly shows at The Dempsey Theater (127 W. 127th Street). The performances offered include the acclaimed "Alive! 55+ and Kickin'" and "The Harlem Gospel Concert Series," featuring Vy Higginsen's Gospel Choir from Harlem. All original productions are by the producers of the hit musical Mama, I Want to Sing—the longest running, African-American, off-Broadway musical in the history of American theater. In addition to musical productions, the Foundation's School of Gospel, Jazz and R&B Arts offers tourist workshops.
