Crotona Park

Description

Not only does this popular Bronx public park boast the borough's largest swimming pool, it also owns bragging rights to a 3.3-acre lake, 20 tennis courts and nearly 30 different species of trees. Families flock to the park year round to hang out on the 11 different playgrounds and to spy on the wildlife, including frogs and birds. The 127.5-acre space, whose moniker comes from Croton, the Greek colony famous for its Olympic athletes, also includes courts for bocce, handball and basketball, dog runs, baseball fields and designated areas to fire up the grill.
