Bedford-Stuyvesant

Billie Holiday Theatre

Description

A Bed-Stuy cultural cornerstone since 1972, the 200-seat Billie Holiday Theatre has served as one of the neighborhood's few venues for live theater, focusing on contemporary plays and musicals by Caribbean and African American writers. A number of actors in productions here have gone on to bigger success—Samuel Jackson, Tichina Arnold and Debbie Allen among them.
