Baisley Pond Park

Description

This 110-acre park's titular pond has quite a history: it provided Brooklyn's water supply in the 19th century, and long before that was home to a mastodon, which was discovered in the late 1800s. More recently, Baisley Pond Park has become a beloved institution for its neighborhood in Jamaica, Queens. Locals play baseball, cricket or tennis at the park's abundant sporting facilities; bring children to its multiple playgrounds; or relax in the gazebo garden.
