Damask wallpaper, chandeliers and dark wood furnishings comprise the decor at this dimly lit, relatively new old-fashioned bar. The employees are the best indicators of the overall vibe—well-dressed (bartenders wear collared shirts with ties tucked in) with an unusually welcoming demeanor. But it isn't just about appearances—the drinks are excellent, too. Our favorite among the host of cocktails on offer is the Scottish Dew, a scotch-based cucumber medley, but the beer list is deep as well, full of local suds and microbrews like Sixpoint and Ipswich Ales. The White Sandwich—grilled on ciabatta with Fontina, raclette and gallego cheeses and sweet pickles—is worth the visit alone, but the menu is full of other tasty gourmet sandwiches, appetizers and snacks.
