Seamstress

Out of Business

Description

Along the lines of Beauty & Essex, Seamstress has fun with summoning the speakeasy era by installing a gift shop up front and hiding the liquor action behind a thick curtain. The bordello-like, Upper East Side spread combines two bars with roomy booths, communal tables and high bar tables. Barkeeps swathed in multi-pocketed tailor's aprons are adept at fiercely shaking a cocktail with one hand while calmly stirring a negroni with the other. To go with the drinks is a raw bar, fried potatoes with black garlic dip, a charcuterie board, housemade pickles and beloved, old-fashioned desserts like baked Alaska and pineapple upside-down cake.
