Bettibar

The bottom floor of this narrow brownstone on Restaurant Row houses the intimate, old-timey Hourglass Tavern. Overflow, especially during popular pre-theater hours, is accommodated on the third floor. The second story houses the clandestine, red-hued Bettibar, a favorite with a friendly staff, dark lighting, modest prices, stiff drinks and late hours. Happy hour goes until 10pm, another big plus. The American/Mediterranean menu—which comes from the same kitchen as Hourglass—is wide-ranging, encompassing salads, sliders, sandwiches and pasta. Conversation starters include low-priced drink specials like a mystery beer in a bag served with a shot.
