An old stone house with white-framed windows and a central door sits behind a black wrought iron fence. Steps lead up to the entrance under a small portico. Bare trees and overcast skies are visible in the background.

Description

Former NYC mayor Isaac Varian, Jr. lived in this fieldstone farmhouse, which was built in 1758 and was the site of six skirmishes between British and American troops during the Revolutionary War. Today, history buffs can walk the oak and pine floors of this lovely Bronx building and learn about the history of the borough.
